My Music
I have always loved music and for as long as I can remember I have been singing. When we were children, my brothers, Mats, Per and I would entertain the people at the bus stop, on the buses and around town with our trio of 3, 4 and 5 year old voices. Can you imagine listening to a group of young children belting out the current hits at the tops of their lungs? I don’t think I ever sang a “children’s song.” I credit my “singing genes” to both parents. My mother still sings with a group of local entertainers to this day.
I have worked in the music industry for many years, here and abroad where I traveled with a band all across Europe and the old Eastern Block countries. It wasn’t until I returned home in 1999 and met Jörgen Hansson that I realized my dream of having my music professionally recorded on an album or CD.
I worked part time in an education center in my home town and I heard about a man who had moved a music production studio into the center’s basement. He didn’t work for the center nor was he enrolled in any of the classes so I became interested in his involvement with the studio. One day on my lunch break I went down to introduce myself and my “break” had suddenly become a 3 1/2 hour session of singing, chatting, playing and more singing.
I was immediately impressed with Jörgen’s interest and knowledge of music and sound engineering. He works in the studio alone, which is impressive enough if you what that entails but he also plays the drums, guitar, bass, harmonica, synthesizer and all keyboard instruments. As an added bonus, he site reads music and has a fantastic singing voice.
It’s easy to be impressed with someone like Jörgen and his talents. It is especially humbling when you learn he is blind and has Asperger’s Syndrome. He has taught me so much and we have a fantastic time together. I owe him a great deal and will be forever grateful for our friendship. Jörgen produces his own segment and DJ’s twice a week on a radio station for the blind that streams globally on the internet. It seems I have a following as he gets several requests for my music on his show. Thank you Jörgen!
